Guide to Choosing Prescription Goggles
SWANS makes prescription goggles for short and long-sighted swimmers. We advise all swimmers to seek the assistance of an optician to help choose the correct prescription.
In order to calculate the correct prescription, use the formula:
Dioptre = Sph + (Cyl / 2)
For example, if you had the prescription in the table below you would need:
-
Right eye = -2.0 + (-1.0 / 2) = -2.5
-
Left eye = -2.5 + (-2.0 / 2) = -3.5
Eye |
Sph |
Cyl |
Axis |
Right |
-2.00 |
-1.00 |
010 |
Left |
-2.50 |

If your dioptre falls between two of the options on offer, always move down to the next available dioptre. For example, if your prescription is -3.75 then move down to -3.5.
